Babies = Yogurt

My daughter has started asking for food that she wants to eat. The other night at dinner she kept saying "babies, babies." I could not figure out what she wanted. Finally my husband made the connection, her yogurt has a picture of a baby on it. He took out a container and it made her day, she gave us the biggest smile and got so excited. So, now we know "babies" = "yogurt" at dinner time any way.

Our Walk in the Snow

Just got back from a walk outside with my daughter. It was so fun! Kelsey always keeps me laughing. She thought the chunks of snow on the road were balls. She kept saying "ball, ball" then she picked a chunk up and tried to throw it to watch it bounce, but it broke into pieces. We stopped to look at every snow and ice chunk, so it took awhile to get around the block, but it was fun. It's a nice day to be outside, sunny and almost 40 degrees.

Valentine's Mystery Dinner

Well, my husband and I are off to a Valentine's Mystery Dinner at church for our small group. It is 80's themed, so it should be fun/funny. I'm not one who really gets into playing a role, so we'll see how it goes. We are making the main dish, so we'll have to get there a little early. My parents are going to watch Kelsey. She fell asleep in the car on the way home from Costco and it was earlier than she normally goes down for a nap, so I hope she will still be in good spirits tonight.

Along with the 80's theme, Ross and I bought the movie Teen Wolf and Teen Wolf Too, the combo pack at Target the other day for $4.75. We watched the first one and it was pretty good, not as cheesy as I thought it may be.

This doesn't really apply to this post, but we also just bought Kels a Boon fork and spoon set and catch-all bowl. I will post later with what we think about them.

Bennihana

Kelsey and I joined my family for lunch at Bennihana's today. Ross was upset that he couldn't join us. It was Kelsey's first time there so I was anxious to see how she handled the "show." She was very captivated by the cook when he was throwing his cooking utensils around and looked at me and said "uh-oh," one of her favorite words. We had a lot of fun and the food was great as usual. Kelsey did very well and even ate some of the zucchini. Hope to get back there with Ross sometime.

Candy Disaster

Well, I attempted to make candy today for the first time and it was a disaster :o) While I was stirring the candy, Kelsey proceeded to pull every single plastic bag out of the bag drawer, and, of course I couldn't stop her, because I had to keep stirring the candy. Then to top it all off, it turned out awful! Oh well, I think I will hang up my candy making hat for awhile. Maybe I'll try again next year :o)

Refinancing Woes

Ok, that is a kind of dramatic title, but we had a bit of a tough afternoon :o) We are in the middle of refinancing our home mortgage while the rates are low. We were supposed to go and get some documents copied and sign some papers (our friend is the mortgage broker we are working with) and their internet wasn't working. Of course I had to bring Kelsey with and we were running into her lunch time, so she was cranky and wanting to run around the whole office. Needless to say, he finally got the internet working in order to print the forms right when we had to leave so Ross could get to a work appointment. Oh well, our friend is going to bring the papers over tonight to sign. It was kind of a worthless trip for Kelsey and me since I didn't get to sign anything after all. Oh well. I better get the house cleaned for Bible study tonight. Thanks for listening! :o)

Things are picking up.

I've been getting a lot of inquiries on Etsy, so hopefully some of them will turn into sales. I guess it doesn't really matter since I am really enjoying creating the designs, but it would be nice :o ) It is a nice distraction anyway.

Kelsey still has a cough and isn't napping well at all still, so the days are long. Hopefully she'll get so tired she'll just crash at some point and take a nice long nap. We're finally getting our carpet in downstairs on Wednesday. It will be so nice to have that finished and be able to have another place to play for Kelsey. Maybe we can keep some of the mess confined to the basement :o)

A Sale!

I had my first sale the other day. I am very grateful. I really hope they are happy with their purchase. I have been trying to figure out new ways to market my etsy store.

Kelsey is still sick. Her napping seems to be getting a little better though. I am also still struggling with my blood sugars. Hopefully they will get under control again soon. That's it for today!

A little discouraged

Well, it's been a couple weeks and I haven't sold anything on my store yet. I'm wondering if maybe the market is too tough as there is someone else selling similar things that seems to have a corner on the market. Should I give up? Do people not like my designs? What else can I do to seek out some freelance design jobs, or any job that can be done from home, for that matter? There is no way I am not staying home and raising my daughter, so how can I still feel like I am contributing to the family finances and make some extra spending money? These are all questions running through my head. I wish my freelance work with 123print would start up again. Finances are tight right now, as I am sure they are for most people. It is just a hard time of year to go from having plenty to being put on a tight budget. I'll just have to adapt. I don't want to become a miser though :o) I know the Lord still wants me to be generous and trust Him more because finances are tight.

Kelsey has been sick with a cold over Thanksgiving, which doesn't help my down mood. We were shut in pretty much the whole weekend and now Ross and I are getting her cold. Oh well! What can you do! I am going to try to stay positive. I said I would give Etsy a year, so that is what I will do, I just don't know how to improve my chances at selling something, or even how to market my store. Lord, help me! :o)
